I adapted this very simple recipe from the Engine 2 recipe. It’s an easy, protein rich addition to steamed veggies and grains or pasta for a well balanced meal.
Makes 2 servings (1 cup each) or 4 1/2 cup servings
1 15oz can of low or no salt chickpeas/garbanzo beans (do not drain and rinse)
1/2 cup nutritional yeast
1 teaspoons Bragg’s Liquid Amino’s
1 Tablespoon whole wheat flour (for GF, use brown rice flour, garbanzo flour or GF all-purpose)
1/2 teaspoon onion granules or onion powder
pinch of black pepper and paprika to garnish
Drain the liquid from the canned chickpeas into a small saucepan. Add the Bragg’s Liquid Aminos, nutritional yeast and flour and whisk until well combined.
Simmer on medium heat until mixture thickens, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, add chickpeas and stir to cover.
