Steel cut oats power breakfast

FullSizeRenderBy now you’ve all heard about the greatness of Bob’s Red Mill Steel cut oats and how I eat them several times a week.

In the winter months and before long base training rides, I’ve boosted up my oats into a power breakfast to sustain me for hours of endurance.


1 cup uncooked Bob’s Red Mill Steel cut oats

3 cups water

1/4 cup date pieces (check out the BRM options)

1/4 cup dried cranberries

1 Tbsp dried coconut

1 Tbsp chia seeds (also available at BRM)

1/4 cup rice, almond or soy milk

1 Tbsp maple syrup (optional)

pinch of cinnamon (optional)


Cook the oats according to the package directions. Boil water, add oats, simmer until tender.

Mix in the remaining ingredients and allow it to sit for 5 minutes. Serve and enjoy your new found breakfast power!
