Classic Belgian Waffles

I recently made my first batch of waffles for our annual cyclocross kickoff party and they were a huge hit! Try these tasty waffles for breakfast or snacks.


2 cups on dairy milk (soy, rice, almond etc)

1 tsp apple cider vinegar

3 Tbsp canola oil

3 Tbsp barley malt syrup or maple syrup

1 3/4 Cup all purpose flour ( For GF use GF all purpose flour plus 1tsp xanthum gum)

1/4 Cup cornmeal

1/2 tsp salt (optional)

1 Tbsp baking powder

1 Tbsp cornstarch or arrowroot starch

Preheat your waffle iron.

Mix together milk, vinegar, oil and syrup until mixed completely.  Slowly stir in the dry ingredients until batter is smooth.  Spray waffle iron with cooking spray and cook waffles to desired level.  Yum!
